Workplace Punctuality Observations
It has been noted recently that employees in roles of all descriptions seem to have lost respect for the 'start time' of their day and/or shift.
When working in an office environment, it was always made clear that it was the expectation of my employer that staff were to be at their desks (coat off, toiletries taken care of, coffee acquired, morning niceties completed, etc.) fifteen (15) minutes prior to the start of my day.
That seems to have changed somewhere.
Observe and you will witness office personnel, bankers, retails staff and service industry employees madly scampering into their places of employment with one or two minutes before the start of their day/shift, and/or many times, tardy by the same minutes.
Who is at fault for this trend?
Is it the employers' fault for not enforcing a policy? Do they even have a policy?
Or, is it the employees', out of disregard for their employer. |
